Respite Care

A vital part of Community Counseling Center's continuum of care for children and families.

High quality childcare is key for a successful strategy to avoid burnout and fatigue. Periodic Respite Care can help adults relax for awhile and come back refreshed and better able to care for their children. It also provides the children opportunities to build new relationships and move toward independence.

We provide supervision for your children directly in your home! Our staff will maintain your established house rules, meal schedules and bedtime or waking routines, as well as help with homework and cleanup. Respite Care staff are also equipped with activity kits which include games, and arts and crafts supplies to do organized activities as time permits.

Consultation with the Respite Care Director and clinical staff persons is available to discuss your specific needs for service.

What is our goal?

Who is eligible?

Any parent, guardian, or child receiving mental health services in Mercer County.

Is there a cost?

If you or your children have medical assistance, the program is free of cost.

How do I get started??

Referrals are accepted from individuals receiving mental health services or from persons involved with providing or supporting mental health care.

After the referral is received, the family will be contacted by the Respite Care Director to complete necessary paperwork. Care may be provided in two to six hour increments daily, between the hours of 7am to 1am, for a maximum of 18-hours per week. Prior to a regular schedule being established, one week advance notice is preferred to request services. Depending on worker availability, special times and requests for extra hours may be approved by the Director.
