"We do whatever it takes!"
Community Counseling Center's vocational services help individuals with disabilities find and keep gainful employment. The largest disability group served are behavioral health consumers; however, we also serve the blind or visually impaired, deaf and hard of hearing, physically disabled, and the mentally retarded.
Services vary depending on the client's needs. In the past, we have helped individuals develop basic to professional job skills with behavioral health issues needing only after work support. Services are delivered based on need and include but are not limited to Pre-Vocational Training, Job Development and Job Coaching.
This includes: job matching, planning for needed accommodations, applications, how to job search, dealing with stress, work relationships, impact of income on PDW/SSA benefits, transportation issues, transitional employment (temporary employment to gauge reliability, interest, etc.)
This includes: leads, job center orientation, resume/cover letters development, disability rights, our staff will market clients with employers, offer tax incentives to employers, educate employers on the Adults with Disabilities Act (ADA), offer sensitivity training to co-workers.
This includes: accompanying the candidate to the work site, providing job training, checklists and task analysis, negotiating accommodations, providing support, fading from the worksite when a client is able to work independently. Instead of on-site support, before or after work, to reduce stigma.
