Outpatient Mental Health

Outpatient mental health therapy is the least restrictive level of mental health services. At CCC, outpatient therapy is often the entry level of treatment and includes assessment, goal setting, individual and group therapies. Utilizing proven evidence-based therapies, our therapists are trained in a variety of general and specialized services. Some of these include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Therapy. Couples and structural family are also available.

Autism and Developmental Disability Services:
CCC provides a continuum of services to young children through adults, both in-home and clinic-based, utilizing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy, the recognized gold-standard in the treatment of autism. Applied behavior analysis is the process of systematically applying interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve socially significant behaviors to a meaningful degree, and to demonstrate that the interventions employed are responsible for the improvement in behavior (Baer, Wolf & Risley, 1968; Sulzer-Azaroff & Mayer, 1991). Our clinicians provide functional behavioral assessments, advanced behavior planning and discrete trail training, under the direction of two Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA’s). Our Behavior Analysts work with family members to assist them with the use of ABA strategies in the home, and to identify meaningful goals and objectives, treatment strategies and activities, and with the important monitoring of progress.

Often mental health treatment requires psychotropic medication in order to achieve maximum benefit. In most cases, a combination of therapy and medication management is recommended as best practice. Our psychiatrists are available to provide these services as needed. Through our wide continuum of agency programs, we can provide the most effective treatment to promote recovery. It is our belief that all individuals can recover and lead healthy and fulfilling lives and become productive members of their own community.

School-Based Counseling

Individual, family, and group psychotherapy for mental health clients is available to twelve school districts in Mercer County. This outpatient therapy service represents the least restrictive level of care while not interfering with a person's participation in daily routine life activities. School-based services are available onsite at the school when the child or adolescent would not otherwise be able to participate in outpatient counseling. The need for school-based services most often occurs when the family is unable or unwilling to provide transportation to a community-based counseling center.

The Center provides in-school counseling in the school districts throughout Mercer County. Please contact our Hermitage office for additional information.

Parent-Child Interaction Therapy

CCC provides Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to expand the options for behavioral health treatment for very young children. PCIT is an evidence-based therapy protocol that is utilized with children ages 2 - 7 with clinically significant emotional and behavioral disorders that have disrupted and strained the parent / child relationship. PCIT places emphasis on improving the quality of the parent-child relationship and changing parent-child interaction patterns. The child’s parent is integrally involved in this type of therapy as the PCIT trained therapist directs all the parental interactions from an adjoining room with a one-way mirror. The parent has an electronic ear bud to hear the directives/affirmations of the therapist while they engage in play-based interactions with their own child. There are two phases of treatment, including the Child-Directed Interaction (CDI) phase and the Parent-Directed Interaction (PDI) phase in order to develop both the parent-child relationship and the parent’s behavior management skills. PCIT sessions occur at our clinic offices and generally range from 12 - 20 sessions.

CCC has several clinical PCIT therapists who have completed the required PCIT training and ongoing supervision protocol. Referrals are currently being accepted for consideration to participate in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy treatment. Most insurances are accepted for PCIT treatment. Please contact 724-981-7141 for more information.

Adolescent Addiction Services

Multidimensional Family Therapy (MDFT) is an outpatient approach to therapy which includes both the adolescent and the family. MDFT has shown effective results with children/adolescents ages 11 to 18 who have substance abuse problems. In addition to the substance use/abuse, mental health and behavioral problems are also addressed. The goal of MDFT is to significantly reduce or eliminate an adolescent's substance abuse and other problem behaviors. Our program seeks to improve overall family functioning by targeting several problem areas at once. The therapist works with the adolescent individually, guides the family interactions and collaborates with other systems involved with the service participant such as school, juvenile probation, children and youth services, and other county agencies.

Out patient therapy is a less intensive level of care for adolescence who need substance abuse treatment.

Services provided are assessment and treatment that focus on the behavioral, emotional, physical, social, familial and spiritual aspects of recovery. Stages of treatment include assessment, treatment, and discharge/referral.
